Frequently Asked Questions:
How many players are on a team?
Six skaters per team, 3 on the ice at a time. A horn will sound every 90 seconds for a shift change.
How long are the games?
Each game is 18 minutes in length - each player will skate 6 shifts per game.
How many games per day (session)?
Although this may vary with interest level, the default plan is for each player to participate in 5 games in one session (day).
May I make my own team?
No - the NCH Spring Series is structured to promote the best competitive balance possible, to promote skill building and fun (versus wins and losses), so all players are "assigned" to a team for each session.
What about goalies?
Currently, our Spring Series is structured for teams of 6 skaters only (no goaltenders); we recommend goalies consider "skating out" to participate.
How will players be assigned to teams?
We will use individual player profiles as well as on-ice experience to assign players to individual teams for each session. You will be given your team assignment at check-in each session.
Will there be breaks during the session?
In addition to "shifts off", there will be a two minute break following the conclusion of each 18 minute game.
